Iesha Chaudhari, the Landscape Lensman
Artist name: Iesha Chaudhari
Area of art: Photography
Title of work: Untitled
If your grandparents' place happened to be on a hill station and you had the chance to visit them fifty times a year, what would be the first thing you would do there?
For Iesha Chaudhari of Grade 9, it would be clicking pictures.
How did it all start? When she received her first phone, she began experimenting with its camera. That was not the only time, though. Being the daughter of a photography enthusiast, she quickly and easily adapted herself to the skills required for using a high-tech camera her dad had gifted her mom.
It was all starting from scratch for her. Her dexterous hands began setting things up in the camera, trying to discover its functions and exploring different ways she could use it. Soon enough, she developed an interest in clicking photographs of nature. Luckily for her, grandma's place was the perfect spot for all of this.
But why nature for a person who initially loved clicking snapshots of food? Clicks after clicks after clicks she realized that "nature" as a subject for photography really spoke to her. Besides the fact that she considers it pretty, she acknowledges that it reflects not only how she looks at things and her perspective, but also an integral part of her character - being lively on the outside, as she believes that that is what nature is all about.
These photos look like they came right out of Life magazine. However unbelievable it may sound, it is true that most of these pictures were clicked by accident. After all, most of the good moments come unexpectedly, and Iesha has mastered how to capture them. It makes her feel blissful when she does that.
Clicking pictures is not her only skill. She believes that she is more of an editor. Some of her pictures have been edited with the help of only phone applications and nothing else. Yet, they look very professional.
As The Art Beatnik promotes a very boundless and unconstrained concept or definition of "art", I decided to ask her why she considers all these pictures to be "art". She responded by mentioning a few things that are exactly what I want to emphasise - that everything that you see is art, it does not have any borders or specifications and that there is in fact no definition for "art". It just depends on who looks at it.
Now you know the artistic Iesha, but how well do you really know the person Iesha? Well, to begin with, she is a psychopathic TV shows and film lover (would seem strange for a person that clicks serene pictures of nature), watches anime and prefers DC over Marvel. If you have any of this in common with her, or just really appreciate her for her art, be sure to check her out.
