The first question that would have come to your mind, even before asking what this website is all about, must be - why the word "Beatnik" out of all others? What is a "Beatnik" anyway? By definition, a Beatnik was a type of young person in the 50s or early 60s that would "reject conventional society" and "value free self-expression".

When it comes to art, that is what I'm all about. I believe that art is not just paint on a piece of paper. It could be that, plus a glass sculpture. It could be a dance you choreographed. It could be a screen test from an acting audition. It could be sketches you made while sitting in a bus. It could be face paint. It could be photography. It could be music you composed. What's more, you do not have to be an art student to contribute to this website.

When it comes to art, I want to be a Beatnik. I want to reject what would generally and conventionally be considered "art" by people. Art is not restricted to art classes anymore. It's a means of self-expression and a manifestation of feeling, and I believe the word Beatnik sums that up. Hence, the name The Art Beatnik.

All of that is not the only reason why I have started this.

I agree that working hard for something is important. Yet, the only thing that's more important than that is getting credit for the hard work you do. There have been several instances where people have created gems and not been acknowledged for it. It not only hurts their sentiments but it kills their motivation as well. On this website, I will provide full credit to anyone willing to display their work. Regardless of where they come from, who they are or what they have made, they will be given complete credit for what they have done.

I also want this to be a platform for aspirational artists to connect with other artists. As you can easily find their names and details, it will be convenient to find the contributors and connect with them.

I hope this website helps you in every way possible. Stay unconventional.
